Medieval Era: Invention of Many Weapons

The weapons which were used in the medieval era was known for their bluntness, as they were used in battle field. They are now also available which can be displayed to show your love for them.

"Three Hundred, Lord of the Rings, Narnia and Mummy Returns" have created stir in the history of Hollywood by portraying amazing sequences which are hard to imagine. Heart wrenching stunts and wonderful cinematography have animated these pictures. The most prominent of all is use of bold and classic weapons which have great role in adding the effect of the ancient era.

Middle ages witnessed many brilliant innovations in arts, politics and medieval weapons which were created during this era. In that era when king used to rule the kingdoms. The war on large scale then used to take place as many brave rulers then used to fight over kingdom ruling. That period gave way to many massive weapons.

Other than knight sword various other weapons were also perfected during medieval period. Even many Bollywood movies have beautifully portrayed the usage of medieval swords and battle axes. Then ancient  and brave ruler Asoka, was great warrior which have fought many battles.


Polearms were also very effective weapon which is close combat tool. The sharp edge of this one is placed at the end of a long shaft which is made using wood. The main purpose of using pole weapons is extended to reach or to increase angular momentum. Polearms are best used for  defense and attack. These are most popular of medieval weapons. Adding versatility to the warriors, these are also thrown on enemy so that he fall off his horse and thus provide advantage to the former ones.

Medieval knights and warriors used many variety of weapons during battle depending on the combat situation they are struck in. Khukuri Knives were used when one is close combat with the enemy. This weapon have sharp edges which are curved inward. These khukuris are basic and traditional utility knife of Nepali people. This one is most effective for chopping or slashing. Sets of skills are required to use this in different styles.

Other combat weapons are battle axes which are the versions of utility axes. These are specially designed for warfare. These axes were widely used as they were cheaper than swords. And to safe guard from all these sharp weapons, warriors used to wear medieval helmets.
These helmets are worn to protect heads which can also be considered as personal protective equipment. Best way to cocoon oneself from cutting blows with swords, the medieval helmets were then adorned to save from flying arrows and low velocity musketry.
